The only difference is that the Beats have slightly better bass. BEST HEADPHONES BY FAR. The Sonys have superb sound quality: its a whole different experience listening to music, i heard effects and little touches in the songs that ive never heard with any other headphone. I have tried countless headphones over the years: various Skullcandies (SK Pro, Ti, Skullcrusher), Sennheiser HD 280, Beats by Dr. Unless youre going to scratch it off with your nails, that wont be a problem.
Mostly hip hop and rap, with a little pop, R&B, and rock. The best headphones in this list are the Beats and these Sonys. However, if you dont want to pay $300 just for slightly better bass, then they are otherwise the exact same headphone. Also, i keep them in the outside pocket of my backpack, which gets thrown around a lot, and they have NO damage. I am a huge audiophile and I listen to music ALL the time.
Dre, and these. Durability is FANTASTIC: ive heard complaints about the vinyl leather coming off, but ive had mine for 6 years, and had no problems.
I'd recommend paying the extra bucks for the MDR7506. Especially if you work in a studio. Side by side comparison proved his the better phone, having much more clarity which lends itself to more detail, almost to the point of starkness, and less unwanted coloration to the music. I wish now I had opted for the Sony MDR7506 which I bought for my son a year or so ago. I paid a hundred dollars for this model about twenty years ago and it lasted almost that long. Behind present day technology but worth the greatly reduced price. I figured this was a good discount so I repurchased it. Ambience then of the MDR-V600 is vastly inferior to the MDR7506, and the MDR-V600 couldn't reproduce the smashing subharmonic (subwoofer) frequencies of the MDR7506 either.
great head phones 2nd pair for my kid as she takes my wifes all the time
Highly recommended. They are replaceable for $12.00. The first part to wear out is the inner ear pads with flaking. They are lightweight, comfortable and just as good soundwise as the more expensive Sennheisers. I am on my third set on this model. They have each lasted about 10 years with heavy use. Both of the previous units developed shorts in the cord probably from my inadvertent pulling on the cord.
Only thing is, if listening on high volume in a tight place, like the car, EVERYONE will hear what your listening to. Just wish somehow it would stay within the headphones, and you. These are good, blocks off all sound so you stay focused, so when I'm in grind mode in the studio I'm in GRIND MODE. EVERYONE.
